Triacta’s is committed to creating products that can stand on their own as a complete solution, or fit comfortably into other architectures and systems. Triacta supports this integration philosophy via open Application Programming Interfaces (API’s) and open protocols.
The PowerHawk metering platform has 3 main integration points:
- Direct communication between PowerHawk meters
and Building Automation Systems via building automation protocols - Direct communication between PowerHawk meters and business/finance applications via File Transfer Protocol
- Communication between PowerHawk Manager and business/finance applications via File Transfer Protocol
PowerHawk meters have building automation protocols such as MODBUS® TCP and BACnet® IP built-in, “out of the box”, and accessible via the ethernet port that comes standard on every PowerHawk meter — making integration with building automation systems straightforward and fast.
Integrating with business systems is equally uncomplicated as every PowerHawk meter has a built-in IP “stack” with FTP capability for transmitting files to any server destination programmed into the device. Built-in Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) obviate the need to manage static IP addresses, while scheduled transmission initiated from the meter to its destination server avoids issues with firewalls — eliminating IT infrastructure issues.
Triacta’s non-proprietary TR3 files are simple to read and use. PowerHawk Manager is not required for PowerHawk meters, but if designed into a solution can add valuable information to CSV files that can then be exported to business and financial systems. PowerHawk Meters also exports files in California Meter Exchange Protocol format for upstream billing systems.
Triacta promotes and supports integration into many major building and information systems, but there are a lot of systems out there and we give customer oriented opportunities highest priority.
